god?
What do we mean when we say the word “god”? Who are we talking about? Do we REALLY know? What has informed our understanding when we speak the word “god”? There can be as many definitions for what “god” means as there are people who give those definitions.
Many things inform how we begin to answer the question – “god?” The parents we grew up with, our family of origin, our experience of church or religion, how we understand the Bible. These all make up our implicit and explicit views of what we mean when we speak the word, “god”.
Is “god” an angry judge? A distant “man upstairs”? A grandfatherly figure who just wants you to do what you want to do? How do you even begin to put an answer the question – “god?” Is it arrogant to presume we know what God is like?
The Bible is a book of people claiming, not that they have discovered “god”, but that a divine being, THE divine being, spoke to them. He revealed Himself to them.
For the next 3 months, we discover just what this “God” has to say about who He is.
