Backpacks Because is a regional ministry to help families who struggle with affording back-to-school supplies. Areas churches send volunteers and sponsors to assist Porter County families. This ministry has been showing God’s love to our community for over a decade.

HOW TO HELP

Be a child sponsor. Sign up to sponsor a child and purchase a new backpack and their school supply list. Visit one our campuses in person to choose a child or family to serve.

• Pray. We receive prayer requests from families when we connect with them. Be a part of our ongoing prayer team.

• Help with set-up/clean-up/volunteering at the reception. In early August, we have a celebration party for the families to pick up their backpack and enjoy entertainment, food and games. We need help with refreshments, games and more.

• Help with administrative tasks. We need volunteers to call families, help with computer work and help with various tasks before the reception.

You can qualify for a free backpack and school supplies.

Qualifications:

• Your student(s) must be entering K-12th grades in Porter County, IN.

• Your students(s) must qualify for the free/reduced lunch program.
